LeGUIN, Major Hubert Alton, U.S.A.F. (Ret ), 80, of Wytheville, died Saturday, November 3, 2001, in his home.

He was bom in Pachuta, Miss., the son of the late James and Amelia Tillman LeGuin. Major LeGuin served 8 years in the U S. Marine Corps during World War II and retired from the U S. Air Force and the Wytheville Community College. He was a former member of The Masons and Lions Club for many years and was a Deacon in the Wytheville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Metz LeGuin; a daughter, Judy Alton LeGuin Pendleton and husband, William Nelson Pendleton of Wytheville; grandchildren, Ann Kincer and husband, Mark, Capt. W. Nelson Pendleton, Jr., and wife, Tara, Berkeley Susan LeGuin Pendleton, and Courtney Elizabeth LeGuin Pendleton; great-grandson, William Nelson Pendleton, III; three sisters, Dorothy Weed of McCalla, Ala., Meryle Windham and husband, John of San Diego, Calif., Joyce Lee and husband, Robert of Albany, Ga.; brother, David Earl Pittman and wife, Judy of St. Clair, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2001, at 11:30 a m. at the Wytheville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Barry Losey officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
