Sketchly and Pauline; Mrs. Carroll Burgess, Flint, Mich., and L. A. Flynt. Mrs. Stout is a daughter and Mrs. Burgess is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Flynt.

In May 1952 Eda was living in/near Clinton, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Ada Ackley of Clinton, is here this week to be with her sister, Mrs. W. M. Stout, and Mr. Stout, who are visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Dugger, and other relatives. They were afternoon visitors Sunday in the L. A. Flynt home.

Area Deaths

Eda Ackley

Funeral services for Eda Ackley will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Methodist Church of Hammon. Officiating will be Rev. Rich Redinger and Rev. David Sanders. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home.

Eda Flynt Ackley was born in Old Johnston(sic) in Cleveland County on Feb. 7, 1900 and died in the Methodist Care Center at Clinton Feb. 5 at the age of 89. She came to Custer Counter with her parents to a farm just northeast of Hammon when she was very young. She attended Pie Flat School. On Jan. 28, 1923 she was married to George F. Ackley at Arapaho. They began farming on Quartermaster Creek. In 1925 they made their home in Hammon where they lived until just before WW II. They then moved to Elk City until 1942. Then they moved to California where they lived until 1945. Mr. Ackley was employed at a grocery store in Clinton and they lived in Clinton with the exception of 1 year when they lived in Mead, Kan., in the mid 1950's.

Mr. Ackley preceded her in death on Oct. 24(sic), 1961.

Mrs. Ackley and her sister, Mrs. Callie Sketchley operated a cafe in Clinton for 11 years. Eda was a member of the United Methodist Church at Hammon where she served as Secretary and Treasurer. She taught Sunday School in her church for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by 4 sisters and two brothers. Her survivors include 10 nieces: Mrs. Harvey White, Mrs. Dick Dugger, Mrs. Clifford Allee, Mrs. Bob Pool, Mrs. Carol Burgess, Mrs. Clyde Hammond, Mrs. Leon Tomberlin, Floetta(sic) Ackley Seright, Alta Ann Ackley Burgeron and Mrs. Earl Long; 8 nephews: Preston, Frank, and Edward Bailey; Robert, Elbert, and Jo Bill Flynt, J. T. Ackley and Jimmy Stout. Also many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and friends.

Note: The correct date for Eda's husband's death is 10-25-1961. James "Jimmy" Stout and Emma Irene "Mrs. Dick Dugger" Stout in the above obituary are 1st cousins once removed with Bessie LaRue Stout. LaRue Stout is the wife of Cleo Dawson Walker.
