Obituary:

Mrs. Mary Abbott Laid to Rest Sunday

Mrs. Mary Abbott passed away Thursday morning, June 8, at her home on South Seeger Street, after a long illness.

Mary Jane McBurney, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McBurney, was born in BeIgrave, Ont., July 27, 1865. While still in her youth, the family moved to Michigan and settled on a farm northwest of Cass City, where she attended school and other activities of the community. Since girlhood, she was a loyal member of the Baptist church.

She greatly enjoyed travel and spent a number of years in Washington, Oregon and California and later in Montana. Returning to Michigan in 1908, she devoted her time mainly to nursing in homes of the surrounding community.

She leaves a large circle of friends. Surviving is a daughter, Frances A. Abbott, of Highland Park.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Douglas Funeral Home, Rev. Arnold P. Olsen officiating.
