Myrtle Spruill Adams, 88, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Adams was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Lee Vance and Minnie Belch Spruill. A homemaker, she was a member of Edenton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Simpson Adams Sr. Surviving are four daughters, Judith A. Peele and husband, Carroll, and Jean A. Bunch and husband, Alvin, all of Edenton, Joan A. Stemen and husband, James of Deltona, Fla. and Debra A. Fink and husband, William, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Clyde S. Adams Jr. and wife, Jackie, and Richard B. Adams and wife, Kim, all of Edenton; a brother, Howard L. Spruill of Calypso, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Edenton Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chowan Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 629, Edenton, NC 27932, and should be designated for use at the Skilled Nursing Facility.
