Curtis Gene Abegglen, 76, of Wilford, died at his home September 7, 2004. He was born December 3, 1927 at the family home in Wilford, to Laurence Edward and Mary Agnes Hansen Abegglen. He attended grade school in Wilford and high school in St. Anthony. He worked for several farmers in the area and was drafted in the last draft of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army-Military Police. After returning from the service he married Donna Willyne Wright in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He began substituting on mail routes and was the parcel post delivery man in St. Anthony. He worked his way into a walking route which he did until taking a medical retirement in 1978 after 27 years. His family and especially his children were the loves of his life. He was an elder in the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Wilford; children, Sherry Lynn (Brent) Robison of Rexburg, Michael Gene (Susan) Abegglen of Idaho Falls, Cinda W. (Jerry) Loucks of Las Vegas, C. Kim (Sherry) Abegglen of Manhattan, Mont., W. Zane (Cindy) Abegglen of Chester, Ryan W. (Audrey) Abegglen of Wilford, Penny Albiston of Palm Desert, Calif., and Jacqueline Abegglen of Layton, Utah; brothers, Ivan (Paulleen) Abegglen of St. Anthony, Kenneth Abegglen of Wilford and Glen (Anita) Abegglen of St. Anthony; a sister, Lucille (Lowell) Palmer of Egin; 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother. Funeral services conducted Saturday, September 11, 2004 in the Wilford LDS church by Bishop Dennis Greenhalgh. Burial in the Wilford Cemetery with military rites. Services are under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary of St. Anthony.
