He is survived by his wife, Jane Siegrist Atkinson; daughter, Susan Abbott (Larry) of Terre Haute, IN; sons, Arthur Wm. Atkinson (Victoria) of Bloomfield Village and Kenneth Wayne Atkinson of Carbon; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Arthur Wayne Atkinson, 79 of Carbon, died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007 in the emergency room at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
He was born February 22, 1927 in Terre Haute, Indiana as the son of Joseph and Gladys Hobson Atkinson. Following graduation from high school he served in the U.S. Army. He attended United Television Lab and began a career with Barton Television Co. in Detroit, MI and Chrysler Corporation where he worked for 30 years. He married Jane Elaine Siegrist June 23, 1951 in Louisville, KY.
He was a member of Carbon Masonic Lodge #529 and a member of Carbon United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Paul, Raymond and Ralph Atkinson.
He is survived by his wife Jane; one daughter, Susan Abbott and husband Larry of Terre Haute; two sons, Arthur Wm. Atkinson and wife Victoria of Bloomfield Village, MI and Kenneth Wayne Atkinson of Carbon; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted with Masonic Memorial Services at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22nd at Moore Funeral Home with visitation with the family from 5:00 p.m. until time of services. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Carbon United Methodist Church.
