Floyd Abbott, 76, of New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, son of the late Arthur Abbott and Ethel Barry Abbott, was born in Dublin, Ireland, Nov. 9, 1917, and died at 2:35 a.m., Friday, March 25, 1994, in Louisville after an illness. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy as a member of the Scouts and Raiders. He was a retired semi-truck driver and he and his wife have owned and operated Green River Grocery the past 16-1/2 years. He was also a former professional hockey player, baseball player and boxer. He was married to Shirley Comte April 23, 1955, who survives. Besides his wife, Abbott is survived by two sons and one daughter, Mike Abbott of Campbellsville, Tom Perser of Charlotte, N.C., and Carol Ann Childers of Pontiac, Mich.; one grandson and one granddaughter, Jean Perser and Laura Ann Seabrooks, both of Charlotte, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral was at 10 a.m., Monday, March 28, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Bro. Don Watson. Burial was in Griffin Cemetery.
