TUPELO - Minnie Coleen Austin Davenport, 83, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven after a brief illness. She was born July 10, 1929, in Pampa, Texas, the only child of Colie Swift Austin and Minnie Maybel Massey Austin. She lived in many Mississippi cities during her adult life and permanently returned to Tupelo in 2005. When her husband of 60 years, Billy Richard "Dave" Davenport, died Jan. 9, 2005, she moved in 2006 to Traceway Manor Retirement Center, where she lived her last years. She and her mother, Minnie, modeled in the l940's. As her four children were born, she became a homemaker and full time mother. She was an agent at Tupelo Travel for many years before becoming a full time grandmother of her six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. A member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, she had attended Valley Grove Baptist Church recently. A well kept lady, she was proud of her Irish and Indian heritage. She loved socializing, the Internet and computer games.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Walker Room (Chapel )of Traceway Manor Retirement Center with Bro. Steve Quarles officiating. Visitation will follow immediately after the service with private burial in Tupelo Memorial Park. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Candy Fisher and Mini Austin, both of Clearwater, Fla.; five grandchildren, Christina Paul (Jerry) and Mike McCain (Jackie), who were her special caregivers, Jeff Clark (Roxanne), Tony Jaggers, and Jason Shea; 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchldren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave Davenport; two daughters, Daphne Shea and Carol Long; and a granddaughter, Lisa Clark.

Memorials may be sent to Traceway Manor Sunshine Fund, 2800 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38801.
