Mrs. Samantha Speed
CLAYTON, Ga. - Mrs. Samantha Moore Speed, 80, of the Warwoman community, Route 1, widow of Joe C. Speed, died Wednesday, August 29, 1990, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Barbara Williams in Baldwin.
Born in Rabun County, she was a daughter of the late Virgil L. and Hattie Matthews Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Warwoman Homemakers Club. Mrs. Speed was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Hoyt Speed of Clayton and Joe S. Speed of Rex; daughters, Mrs. Barbara Williams of Baldwin, Mrs. Janie Richardson of Decatur, Mrs. Carrie Crane of Atlanta, Mrs. Belle Taylor and Mrs. Dottie Cathey of Clayton, Mrs. Genelia Sherin of Rabun Gap, Mrs. Lucille Staton of McDonough, Mrs. Katheryn Revis of Stone Mountain and Mrs. Debbie Wright of Toccoa; sisters, Mrs. Lewis Speed of Clayton and Mrs. Lawrence McAllister of Hollywood; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Vaughn Stancil, the Rev. James Mason Jr. and Layman Lloyd Hunter. Burial in the church cemetery.
