MONTICELLO - Joseph R. Sweet, 65, 109
Beach Dr., died at 2 p.m. Wednesday in
White County Memorial Hospital after an
illness of 1 1/2 years.
He was born Aug. 10,1919, in Monticello,
to William and Florence Cochran Sweet. He
was married June 15, 1939, to Norma Ephlin,
who survives.
He retired in 1980 after working for 36
years as a purchasing agent for RCA,
Monticello. He was a 1938 graduate of
Monticello High School and a Navy veteran
of World War II. He was a lifetime resident
of Monticello, and a 42-year member of IOOF
Lodge, Monticello.
Also surviving are a daughter, Constance
Jo Sears, Ida, Mich.;two sons, William L.,
New York City, N.Y., and M. Bruce,
Logansport; a brother, James, Sheridan,
Wyo.; a sister, Ethel Bartlett, Sand Point,
Idaho; two grandchildren and a great
grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in
Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, with the Rev.
William Weckerly officiating. Burial will be
in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the
funeral home.
