Helen was the daughter of John Joseph Mooney and Ella Jane Archer. She was born in Dick Johnson Township in Clay County, Indiana, near a small community called Diamond. (See 4th photo) She went to Rock Run School near there. Her parents are buried at St. Mary's cemetery at Diamond. Helen married Leroy Aarnink June 29, 1923 at St. Joseph Church in Terre Haute, Indiana.

"Mrs. Helen M. Aarnink, 65, 3020 Harrison Ave., died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony Hospital. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary's Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Nickless, Terre haute; Mrs. Charlotte Crippes, Paris, Ill., and Mrs. Alice Greene, Milford, Conn.; two brothers, Joseph Mooney, Hessville, and William Mooney, Diamond; two sisters, Miss Anna Mooney and Miss Annetta Mooney, both of Brazil; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Requiem Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret Mary's Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the DeBaun Chapel. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday."
