passed away August 22, 2012.
On May 3, 1924, Joe was born to James and
Margaret (nee: Hudsbeth) Abbott in McComb,
Mississippi. He was the youngest of 13
children. Joe always claimed to have graduated
‘Lame Duck' from McComb High School. Joe
was a machinist for the Illinois Central
Railroad for many years retiring in 1984 on
Pat's birthday. Joe was a member of Sorrowful
Mother Catholic Church and Wheatfield
American Legion Post #406.
Joseph is survived by his wife: Patricia, children: Suzanne Abbott, Joseph
Abbott Jr., Virginia (William) Crandall, Barry Abbott, Donna (Jeffrey)
Smolinski, Elizabeth Abbott, Cynthia (Robert) Gregory, 14 grandchildren and
16 great-grandchildren.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on
Sunday, August 26, 2012, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St.,
Wheatfield, Indiana. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday,
August 27, 2012 at Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church in Wheatfield,
Indiana.
