DEATH OF JOHN ACKLEY
This community was shocked Sunday night when the reports reached here that John Ackley a former citizen was found dead. It seems that he had been to Strong City and on his return home when about two miles south of town and about sundown his team entered the barn lot at the roadside and went up to the tank to drink. The family not noticing anything unusual about the occurrence paid no special attention to the incident, but when the team remained standing at the tank, an investigation was made in about an hour and a half after the team came into the lot and the driver was sitting in the seat of the buggy lifeless. To all appearance life had gone sometime.
The Sheriff, County Attorney and Dr. Wallace of Cheyenne were notfied(sic) at once and doctor Wallace pronounced the cause of death was due to heart failure.
Previous to the past year Mr. Ackley and family lived near Hammon but has since that time lived southwest of Strong City.
He leaves a wife and several small children and a brother T. Ackley north of town.
The body was brought to Hammon and prepared for burial and then taken to the home of T. Ackley. Monday afternoon a short funeral service was held at the Red Hill Cemetery where the body was laid to Rest.
