MRS. BODE, EARLY RESIDENT, EXPIRES.
Mrs. Ernest Bode, 78, died suddenly at 10:30 o'clock last night following a heart attack at her home at 2424 Harlan street.
A longtime resident of Falls City, Mrs. Bodie was ill for several weeks this summer with a heart ailment but her condition had greatly improved during the past few months and death was unexpected.
Born in Springfield, Ill., September 30, 1858, Mrs. Bode ca,me to Falls City with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Abell, in the early 1880's. For many years she had a position in the Sam Wahl store here where she acquired many friends.
On August 2, 1898, she was married.
Mrs. Bode was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church and was prominent in many church societies and activities.
Surviving besides her husband are one sister, Mrs. Martin Mehlhorn of San Diego, Calif., and two brothers, John Abell of Omaha and Ben Abell of Hudson, Wyo.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home with the Rev. Kenneth M. Keeler in charge. Pallbearers will be Fred Schock, Dr. C. N. Allison, W. R. Holt, Guy Hutchins, Emil Gerit and Paul Greenwald.
Burial will be in Steele cemetery.
