Gladys G. Abbott, 83, Kansas City, Kan., a teacher for 30 years, died Jan. 16, 1991, at Providence-St. Margaret Health Center.
Mrs. Abbott taught at Coronado Middle School for 10 years, retiring in 1973. Earlier she taught at Bonner Springs High School.
She was a member of the Kansas Retired Teachers Association and the Wyandotte County and Kansas groups of the National Education Association.
She and her also husband also owned the H.G. Abbott Steel Fabrication Co. for 10 years. She was a member of the League of Scottish Rite Women. She received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Kansas in 1930. She was born in Woodston, Kan., and lived in Holton and Eudora in Kansas before moving to this area 61 years ago. Survivors include her husband, H.G. "Whitey" Abbott of the home; a son, Homer Gregory Abbott II, Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Old Mission United Methodist Church; graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eudora Cemetery. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the Shriners Burn Center in care of Abdallah Shrine.
