Spencer Funeral services for Vera Kurlee Naomi Austin, 91, of Spencer, previously of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer with the Rev. Craig Finnestad officiating. Interment will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly. She died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001 at her home in Spencer.
Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today in the Fireside Room at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
Vera was born on Aug. 18, 1910 in Estherville, the daughter of Joseph and Tillie Eliza (Johnson) Aalborg. She attended school in Estherville, graduating from Estherville High School.
On Jan. 30, 1934, she was united in marriage to Loris Sandy Austin in Des Moines. Vera was a bookkeeper for Merril Co. in Spencer for several years. Her main occupation was being a mother and grandmother.
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer and a member of the Church Circle.
Vera is survived by three children, Taman and Darrell Kruckman of Ruthven, Noel Austin of West Liberty and Doug and Pat Jones of Spencer; four grandchildren, Lori Austin, Katie Austin, Andrew Jones and Briana Silver; one great-grandson, Bryce Brown; one sister-in-law, Virginia Aalborg and close family friends, Judy Drenth and Diedra Van Amam.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sandy; three brothers, Sargent, Arnent [Arnett] and Leroy Aalborg and two sisters, Altamay Smith and Eloise Aalborg. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 1, 2001)
