OBITUARY: Charles P. Abbott (w/ photo) - Deal Island - Charles Patrick Abbott Sr., 61, of Deal Island, a commercial waterman and owner here of Quality Seafood, died Wednesday in Peninsula General Hospital Medical Center of renal failure. Abbott won the annual skipjack race at Deal Island in September. Born here, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Ethel Elliott Abbott. He was a World War II Army veteran. Abbott was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Wenona and a member of the Maryland Watermen's Association. He was a former member of the Deal Island-Chance Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Miriam C. Abbott; four children, Charles P. Abbott Jr., Judith E. Taylor, Deal Island, Allen Abbott, Wenona, and Kandie L. Abrams, Pocomoke City; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Lelia White, Wenona, and Flora Webster, Salisbury; a brother, Raymond E. Abbott, Federalsburg, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Church. The Rev. Harry A. Patterson III will officiate and will be assisted by the Rev. Linwood "Sonny" Benton. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Webster Funeral Home here Friday after 7 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. (The Daily Times, Thursday, 23 January 1986, p. 2)
