Mrs. Marie Johnson, a resident of Litchville since the early days but who since 1940 has lived at the Lutheran Home in Valley City, died there early last Saturday morning from influenza and complications. She was 72 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Firt Lutheran Church of Litchville on Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. J. E. Lee in charge, and burial in the cemetery three miles south of town.

Mrs. Johnson leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Melvin, of Valley City; two sisters: Mrs. J. M. Erpestad (Sophie) of Windom, Minn., and Mrs. Sam Amundson (Martha) of Canby, Oregon; and one brother, Emel Aus of Oregon City, Oregon. Mr. Johnson died in 1904, and a son, Oscar, also preceded her in death by many years. Her surviving son, Melvin, and one of her sisters, Mrs. Erpestad, were here for the last rites. The relatives living in Oregon were unable to come.

Mrs. Johnson was a good and a kindly woman, and while life for her didn't always fall in pleasant places, she neither questioned nor complained. May her last long sleep be peaceful.
