MOUNT VERNON — A funeral service for Bessie B. Ramsey, 84, of Mount Vernon will be held Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
Bessie died Nov. 22, 2007, at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon. She was born April 4, 1923, in Utica to the late Guy and Sarah (Ryan) Stillwell.
She worked 60 years as a nurse. Bessie lived in Tucson, Ariz., from 1957 to 1972 and during this time worked at St. Mary's Hospital. She worked at Martin Memorial Hospital from 1972 until it merged with Mercy Hospital creating Knox Community Hospital where she worked until 1985.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Guy Curtis "Butch" and Sally Zimmerman of Nescopek, Pa., Robert Lee Snyder of Mount Vernon, and Michael Dean and Beth Ramsey of Vail, Ariz.; daughter, Carolyn Sue Moore of Mount Vernon; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; half sister, Naomi Partridge of Newark; and aunt, Ruth Ryan of Utica.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard M. Ramsey (1969); and a son, Terry Pharis.
