Donna Mae Creese was born August 26, 1917, the daughter of Thomas and Barbara Freml Abbott. She passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-three.

Donna was born on a farm near Vail, Iowa. She attended the Vail and Charter Oak Community Schools, graduating from Charter Oak High School with the class of 1935. She married Raymond (Bob) Creese on November 25, 1935 at the Catholic Rectory in Charter Oak, Iowa. To this union eight children were born. They settled on the family farm in Willow Township in Crawford County, remaining there for 30 years. She then moved into Charter Oak and went to work as a cook for Crawford County Memorial Hospital, and later worked at Farmland in Denison.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, enjoying the time she got to spend with her family, often meeting with them for morning coffee at The Family Table. Donna was an excellent cook and well known for her sugar cookies, chocolate cake, and rolls. She was delighted to have company and always treated her visitors by sending some of her delicious sugar cookies home with them. In her spare time, she would embroider and was an avid viewer of Wheel of Fortune on TV. In her younger years, she liked to go bowling and dancing. She was one of the original residents at Oakwood Manor and was one of the last of the original residents to move out. She enjoyed living at Oakwood Manor and all the friendships she established there.
