Oliver was born April 9, 1923 on a homestead near the Prospect community in Montana and was educated in Conrad, graduating from Conrad High School. He attended the University of Montana, where he enrolled in the ROTC program.
In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army and served with the 99th Battalion Ski Patrol. He received a Purple Heart, along with a commendation from King Olav of Norway for his involvement in the liberation of Norway.
Following his discharge in 1945, Mr. Aaberge returned to Montana and farmed in the Ledger area with his brothers. He married Marian L. Midge in 1948 in St. Olaf's Church in the Ledger area. In 1960 he purchased the Teton Valley Ranch at Dutton, and he and his wife lived there until 1980, when they retired and moved to Great Falls.
Mr. Aaberge was a member of the Marias Archers, the Naitonal Archery Association, the National Rifleman Association, the American Angus Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, and the Bethany Lutheran Church, where he was a past councilman, past treasurer, and past member of the Lutheran Brotherhood.
He was a 4-H leader, a licensed real estate agent, a member of the Good Samaritan Club, and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity while attending the University.
Survivors include his wife of Great Falls; daughters, Gail Becker and Nancy Fleshman, both of Dutton, Jackie Van Heel of Great Falls, and Eileen Kari Aaberge of Ballantine; a son, Luther of Missoula; brothers, Elmer of Milwaukee, Oregon, Lewis of Ledger, and Kenneth of Libby; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
