Private John Peterson, of Everest, died in France on Oct. 4, 1918, at the age of 23 years and five days. He was a member of Company F, 351st Infantry, of the 88th Division, and trained at Camp Dodge, Iowa. Little is known of the circumstances concerning his death except that he died of disease in a military hospital near Gondrecourt, France, and is buried in an American cemetery nearby.

John's parents, Mr. and Mrs. 0. Peterson, live five miles south of Everest. He is survived by brothers Torkel, Pete and Ole, and sisters Anna Peterson; Mrs. Ole Everson, of Horton; Mrs. Bailey, of Western Kansas; and Mrs. Pete Abrahamson, of Canada.
