ARNETT -- Alice Acuff Shroeder, 102, Garnett, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at a Garnett nursing home.
Mrs. Shroeder worked in the Anderson County superintendents office prior to 1920. She later worked for the Fraker Clothing Co. until she retired.
She was born Jan. 8, 1897, at El Reno, Okla., the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Jane "Sadie" Morris Acuff. She moved with her family to Kansas City, and then to Garnett in 1900. She attended Garnett schools, and graduated from high school in 1915.
She married John W. Shroeder Jr. on Dec. 25, 1920, in Garnett. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, John Shroeder, in Virginia; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Farris-Feuerborn Funeral Chapel in Garnett.
Burial will be at the Garnett Cemetery.
Mrs. Shroeder will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at the funeral chapel where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
