Funeral Is Friday for Glenn Abbey

Funeral services for Glenn R. Abbey, 49, of 1001 Haley, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elder Lewis E. Brice will officiate and burial will be made in Midland Cemetery.

Mr. Abbey died Monday night at Bay City Mercy Hospital, where he had been a patient the past three weeks.

He was born in Coleman, June 26, 1911. He came to Midland in 1930 and for the past 28 years, he had been employed at the Down Chemical Company, where he worked as a foreman at the LCL freight dock. Mr. Abbey was a member of Centre Lodge No. 273, F and Am, and the Bay City Consistory.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alta Abbey of Midland; three sons, Wayne Abbey, Palatka, Fla., Lon and Larry Varner, both of Midland; four daughters Mrs. Mat Taister and Mrs. Andrew Herman, both of Midland; Mrs. Loring Hock, Jr., Freeland, and Mrs Vernon Barr, Independence, Mo.

Other survivors are three brothers, Dan Abbey, Lake Orion; Art Abbey, Grosse Pointe and Clare Abbey, Bradenton, Fla.; Four sisters Mrs. Clement Meany of San Luis Obispo, Cal, Mrs. Fred Hollenbeck, Applegate, Mich. Mrs. Leonard Webster, Barryton and Mrs. Miner Hackett of Evert, and 10 grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Friday and at church from 1 p.m. until time of service. A Masonic service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday.
