Soon after his discharge from the Army, A.O. married Mary Adelaide Hull in Earlville, NY on March 13, 1865. "... A. O. Abbott of Utica, to Miss M. A. Hull of Madison." (Oneida County NY Newspaper Notices.) After his first child, Fred Hull Abbott, was born the following year, in Madison Co., New York, the family moved to Michigan.
Confirmed in A.O.'s Civil War pension application (signed April 13, 1907) are his children, his marriage to Mary Adelaide Hull, her death and his second marriage to Helen Marr Hathaway. Various publications listing early state legislators include a biography of Adrian O. Abbott which lists some of his accomplishments - President of the Village of Hudson (3 yrs), business owner, state legislator. and inventor & manufacturer of the Abbott voting machine among others.
