I have always been interested in history. My venture into genealogy in 2001 led me to Find a Grave as an additional source of information. My grandmother passed away in 1993 at the age of 99. She had quite a bit of information which my father was able to pass to me.

I have served in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 2007 until my retirement on 1 September 2007. The Navy allowed me to travel all over the world and see many cultures. My best tour was in Yokosuka, Japan. My mom and I were both born in Sendai, Japan, so this trip allowed me to meet family I did not know. We left Japan when I was 9 months old.

My father told me we were related to Davy Crockett. I finally was able to confirm that my great great great great great grandmother was Davy Crockett's second wife Elizabeth Patton.
