Donis Shepperd, 84, of Moss Point, MS passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Shepperd was an active member of Wade Baptist Church. She loved cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and beloved dog Corbin. She also loved to read and travel in her free time. Mrs. Shepperd was the type of person to never meet a stranger.
Mrs. Shepperd is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Howard Clay Shepperd, daughter Phyllis McCarra, parents Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Sumrall, sisters Bonnie, Jean, Helen, Totsie and brothers Jimmy, Jerry, Bobby, Jack and Sam.
Mrs. Shepperd will be greatly missed by her son Gary (Wilma) Shepperd, daughters Brenda (Dale) Owens and Paula Pierce. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeff (Shelly) McCarra, Joel (Dinah) McCarra, Jonathan (Amanda) McCarra, Diane (Buddy) White, Dana Ernest, Jody Couch, Dalen (Keith) Grant, Wesley Shepperd, Rachael (Gabe) Jones, Joshua (Anna) Pierce and Heather Shepperd. Mrs. Shepperd leaves her memories to 17 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, a sister Shirley (Jo) Hemphill and brother Bill Sumrall. She will also be missed by her special friends Barbara Martin, Roger, Sandy and Tiffany Miller, her faithful beloved K-9 companion Corbin and many other family and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Donis Shepperd will be Wednesday 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Everett Childress officiating. Burial will follow at Macphelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Pallbearers for Ms. Shepperd will be Keith Grant, Joshua Pierce, Perry Sumrall, Roger Miller, Ronnie Phillips, Terry Abbey, and Alan Abbey.
