Lelia was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family and over the years she was a babysitter and she worked on the assembly line for Air King products in Eunice. She volunteered at the church by preparing altar cloths, etc. for weekend masses. She was a member of the Cajun French Music Association and St. Augustine Catholic Church. Her hobbies were gardening, baking pumpkin pies, canning figs and making her "famous" hot sauce which she gave away freely to the citizens of Basile especially Father Speyrer. She also loved Cajun music and dancing and participated in the Basile Mardi Gras. In 2010 she was the Basile Care Center Swine Festival Queen. Most of all she loved her family and will be deeply missed by her son, Charlie Caruthers and wife, Jackie of Lafayette; two sisters, Essie Mae LeBlue and Ethel Bordelon both of Welsh.
