Lillian Christine Mason Sparks, age 75, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2005 in a Grundy, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Pocahontas, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Gilbert Paul and Emma Mae Mason, both Pocahontas, Virginia natives.

She had made her home in the Raven, Virginia area most of her life and was of the Lord Jesus Faith. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Sparks, one son, William Sparks, Jr., one grandson, Gerald Sparks, one great granddaughter, Jennifer Sparks, and one brother, Cecil Mason.

Survivors are:

Two Daughters:
Ruby Absher and husband Darrell of Richlands, Virginia
Brenda Lowe and husband Bobby of Red Ash, Virginia

One Grandson: Jimmy Newberry of the home

10 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren also survive

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Christine Mason Sparks will be conducted Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Pastor James Dye, Jr., Pastor Pamela Dye, and Pastor Matthew Sparks, Pastor Eddie Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow at the Proffitt Family Cemetery on Horton Ridge near Raven, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Bobby Gene Lowe, Jr., William ?Billy? Sparks, Howard Bartee, Michael Hunnell, Bobby Dye, Darren Hess, TJ Arms, and Mikey Hunnell. Friends may call after 6:00pm Tuesday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
