FATHER LOCAL MAN DEAD. RESULT OF FREAK ACCIDENT

George Aesoph, Sr., 70 father of George Aesoph of Miller, was accidentally killed last Thursday afternoon, when he was pinned under his car in a freak occurrence.

Mr. Aesoph, resident of Hyde county, was working at the foot of a hill, with his car parked on the hill. Although there were no witnesses to the accident, evidence indicated that the car rolled down the incline, striking Mr. Aesoph and pinning him to the ground. It is believed he died instantly.

When he failed to return home, a search was conducted. The car was found, but since it was still upright, searchers did not look underneath it. His body was not discovered until Friday morning.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning from St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Orient. Surviving are the widow and eight children. Mr. Aesoph was the first settler in Hyde county.
