Elmer Abby, 54, of Carmi, a former resident, died at his home in Carmi Sunday about 9 a m.
Services were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Christian Church in Carmi, with Rev. Dannie Martin officiating.
Surviving are his widow, the former Maxine McKibben, to whom he was married in 1936; two sons, Darwin Abby of O'Fallon, with the Air Force and Darrell Abby of
Murphysboro, a student at SIU; two grandchildren, David and Cheryl of O'Fallon; and a brother, Marlin Abby of West Salem.
Mr. Abby worked for Southern Illinois Lumber Co. here and managed the Southern yard at Browns, prior to moving to Carmi 16 years ago. For several years, he had worked for White County Lumber Co. at Carmi.
Born September 12, 1915 in Edwards County, he was the son of John and Zeta Woods Abby. His father died in 1965 and his mother March 16 of this year.
Interment was at Graceland Cemetery, with the Campbell Funeral Home of Carmi in charge.
