DODGE CITY - Glee Abbey 59, died Aug. 9, 1995, at his home. He was born Dec. 3, 1935, at Cimarron, the son of Norman J. and Thula Reatha Sharp Abbey.

 

He was a 1954 graduate of Dodge City High School and a 1956 graduate of Dodge City Community College. A Dodge City resident since 1941, he was owner and manager of McKinley Automotive for 10 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dodge City Chamber of Commerce, South Dodge Merchants Association and Mariah Hills Municipal Golf Course, all at Dodge City.

 

On Aug. 12, 1956, he married Helen Esther McKinley at Dodge City. She survives. Other survivors include: a daughter, Centra Sorem, Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Owen, Richland, Wash., Gerald, Albuquerque, N.M., and Thayne, Garland, Texas; and one granddaughter, Abbey W. Sorem, Tulsa, Okla.

 

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Dodge City, with the Revs. Kirk Larson and Dick Robbins presiding. The casket will remain closed for the public. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.

 

Swaim Funeral Home. Dodge City, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be sent to KSU Center for Basic Cancer Research.
