Virgil Wesley Jenkins - age 86 of the Poplar Springs Community, Kingston passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2013 at the Roane Medical Center. Virgil was a member of Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan of all Kingston sports teams. Virgil enjoyed working on his farm.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Stella Jenkins; sisters, Carrie Farmer, Lela Mathis, Maude Galyon, Hazel Guettner and Betty Abbott; brothers, Roy, Kenneth and Carl Jenkins. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Alma Jenkins; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Henry Tupis; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Martha Jenkins; grandchildren: Nathan Tupis, Adam Tupis, Andrew Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins; sisters, Laura Belle Wright and Ruth Bohannon; several nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church with Elder Ronnie Inman and Elder Danny McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Kingston Memorial Gardens.
