Ronald B. Abbott, 91, of Kingsley, formerly of Ponca, Neb., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today in Dakota City Cemetery, Dakota City, Neb. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon today, with a time of sharing memories of special events in Ronald's life with Darla Rock officiating, at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Ronald was born Aug. 13, 1910, in Burlington Junction, Mo., the son of William J. and Clara (Leamer) Abbott.

He married Cora Belle Evans on Jan. 16, 1930. Cora died in 1943. Ronald married Ilene Stroud in 1945. She died in 1948. He later married Opal Ellington on May 26, 1949.

After their marriage, Ronald and Opal lived in the Ponca, Neb., area. He spent his lifetime doing construction work. He and his brother, Otis, owned and operated a gravel and limestone business, AgLime Sand and Gravel in Ponca. He also owned R.B. Abbott and Sons Construction Co. from 1951 to 1974. After he and his wife, Opal, retired they spent their retirement years in Florida, Arizona and California. They moved to the Kingsley area in 1997. Opal died Aug. 24, 1998.

Ronald was very active in the Ponca Rodeo Association and donated a great amount of time to repairing anything that needed repair for the annual rodeo held every summer. Since the Annual Ponca Rodeo began in 1969, Ronald had only missed two of them.

Survivors include three sons, Bill and his wife, Jeannie Abbott of Newberry Springs, Calif., Jim Abbott of Mondamin, Iowa, and Ronnie and his wife, Nancy Abbott of Omaha; a daughter-in-law, Norma Abbott of Kingsley; a brother, Willis Abbott of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne; three grandchildren, Rick, Sandra and Gale Abbott; two brothers, Otis and Perry; and four sisters, Fern, Alta, Mary and Tina.
