Betty was born in Oliver County on Feb. 15, 1927, to Matthew and Regina Pfliger.
The family moved to Montana for a short time, but later, she brought her children back to Center. Betty was a single mom who successfully raised her five children with the help of her extended family. In 1966, Betty opened Betty's

indoor swimming pool, the Center Civic Center and Court House, paved streets and a new medical clinic building. She also helped with the idea of a bus for the
senior citizens and also many other numerous projects.
Betty was active on the Oliver County Ambulance squads when it first started, even making a run with a mom and baby during a blizzard. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Golden Age Club. Betty became a member of the Civic Association in 1965. They were responsible for a successful Old Settlers Days each year. She also served on the Center Park Board, Oliver County Food Pantry and West River Bus Board. Betty was very active in many of her joys
in life, her family, friends, her card players, her garden, baking at the drop of a hat and helping to cook for other local events.
