Horace J. Coon, well known farmer of Delaware township, passed away at his farm home northeast of Manchester Saturday, April 7th, 1934, following a long period of illness. Funeral services are being ???????????????? charge of the services. Burial is being made in Union cemetery near Thorpe.
Mr. Coon, a son of John and Martha Coon, was born on a farm in Delaware township on February 14th, 1869, and spent his entire life here. His marriage with Miss Amanda Smock occurred on March 14th, 1897, and to this union were born five children Edward J. and Mrs. Alice Mead of Strawberry Point; Paul W. Coon of Manchester and Miss Alberta Coon at home. One daughter, Mrs. Martha Assmus preceded her father in death three months ago.
Mr. Coon is survived by his widow, two sons and two daughters one sister, Mrs. Emma Moyle, of Scales Mound, Ill., one brother, Geo Coon of Manchester, and a number of nieces and nephews. His parents and five sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
He was a member of Greeley lodge, No. 418, I O O F and had occupied every official position in that order. He was a man who had earned the high esteem and regard in which he was held by neighbors and friends, and many will learn of his passing with profound sorrow.
