Civil War Union Military stone, no dates reads:

Dan'l S. Adams/Co., I 22nd Ky Inf
------
According to the 1850 Carter Co., KY Federal Census, Daniel Adams was a son of Pleasant Adams and Eleanor Adams. His brother Sylvester (buried in this cemetery) and he both joined Co., I 22nd KY Infantry.

According to the 1860 Carter Co., KY Federal Census he married a Mary J. who was 16 born ca1844 in North Carolina. There is no stone for a Mary J. Adams of this birth date in this cemetery.
----
A pension file exists for a Daniel Adams, wife Mary J. (the file gives him a alias of Robert D. Adams -probably his first name making him Robert Daniel Adams. He filed for an invalid pension on Jan 7, 1899 and his wife Mary J. filed for a widows pension on Dec 27, 1906.
----
In the 1900 Willard, Carter Co., KY Federal Census we have Daniel Adams aged 65 born May 1835 living with wife Nancy J. aged 51 born April 1849 so there we have their approsimate dates of birth. Nancy was a busy girl having given birth to 13 children 11 of which were still alive.
-----
Her Kentucky Certificate of death gives her name as Nancy Jane Adams and her birthdate as May 4, 1844 in North Carolina and death date as Feb 24, 1916 in Carter County, KY. Her father as Linval Triplett of NC and mother as Tabitha Triplett of NC. with her burial at Willard (which is in Carter Co., KY and just a dash down the road from Johns Run. SO while we don't have a stone I feel good about placing her in this cemetery with an unmarked grave. Her daughter's death cert (Hila Bowling) who died in 1911 names her parents as Daniel Adams and Nancy Jane Triplett. This reinforces the last name
