Elijah Adams was born 1849 in Kentucky. He lied about his age and fought for the Union during the Rebellion. 54th Regiment, Kentucky Infantry, Company A. He was a music teacher and they owned and operated a grocery store catty corner across Main street where he, though blind late in life gave his lessons. His first lessons were given in Kentucky when he taught Frank and Jesse James guitar basics in return for their mother's sewing for his mother. He wrote songs and essays and published them in the Bluefield newspaper or sold them as penny sheets. He died 11 Jan 1916. I have a picture of them. They are my great grand- parents.

Elijah's wife Ella is buried on your right if you are standing at his feet in front of his marker. On the left of him is their daughter Connie Adams. She was born in Kentucky in 1887 and died at lock eleven village/Redmond Ridge of tuberculosis 1903 before her 16th birthday.
