Oscar Theodore Aas was born March 3, 1912 in Northome, Minnesota, the son of Otto Aas and Mary Uran. He married Leila LaVerne Berry in 1941, and the couple came to Reno in 1964 from La Grande, Oregon.

A Navy veteran, Oscar served in the South Pacific during World War II. He later worked as a meat cutter for Albertsons, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Reno Elks Lodge.

Survivors included his widow, Leila; three daughters, Paula Dermody, Tanja Jasper, and Dana McNamara; four sisters, and six grandchildren.
