Ralph McDevitt, 67, of Asheville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 6, 2003. Ralph was born Oct. 7, 1935, to P.N. and Alpha Worley McDevitt in the. Revere community. of Madison County
Ralph is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bertha Wallin McDevitt of Asheville; two sons, Tom McDevitt and his wife, Donna Reeves McDevitt, of Asheville, and Randy McDevitt of Asheville; three grandsons, Jeremy,Josh and Chris McDevitt, all of Asheville; granddaughter,Amy McDevitt Warren of Fort Polk, LA, and her husband, Sgt. Mike Warren, currently serving with the Army in Baghdad; three brothers, Edwin McDevitt of Asheville,Norman McDevitt of Wellington, Ohio, and Oscar McDevitt of Marshall; four sisters, Viola Ramsey of Marshall, Oleta Ponder of Asheville, Imogene Blow of Rock Hill SC and Lillian Hatley of Hixson, Tn. four foster sisters, Mickey Crain and Elaine Luther of Minnesota;Rhonda Sprinkle of Fayetteville, N' and Nannette Blastow of High Point, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, P.N. and Apha Worley McDevitt of Revere; three brothers, Newman McDevitt and Zeno McDevitt of Detroit, MI and Dwight McDevitt of Dobson; four sisters, Cornelia Joyner of Black Mountain, Ann Leake of Asheville, Evelyn Banks of Greeneville, TN, and Ulalia McDevitt of Crew, VA.
The funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday,July 9 at Bowman Funeral Home in Marshall, conducted by the Revs. Larry Sprinkle and Ken Lewis. Burial followed at Wallin Family Cemetery.
