Berta Maybell A. Bowden, 84, died May 21, 2005. Mrs. Bowden was a native of Suffolk and the widow of Robert Bowden. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Mary Holland Acey and Charlie Edward Acey Sr. She is survived by her sisters, Flossie J. Liverman of Courtland and Florence M. Williams of Suffolk; faithful caregiver Deborah Norris of Norfolk; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Nathaniel Scates. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Florence M. Williams, 311 Westgate Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434.
