Alva was the daughter of Washington Warren Oliver and Miranda Oliver (maiden name was Oliver).
She was raised by her half brother, William Harrison Oliver after the death of her parents.
She married first William Stewart about 1902 in Stewart County, Tennessee about the age of 13. Will died around 1907.

Only Elizabeth lived to adulthood
Alva married secondly John Wesley Adams about 1911 in Stewart County, Tennessee
