Daughter of John Q. Adams and Jane E. Haislip, she was born in Tennessee in March of 1872. Her Death Certificate says 1871 with the exact date hard to make out. The death certificate says she was buried at Marble (that's the postal address which would be Moss Cemetery) which makes no sense as her husband died two years prior and was buried at Maple Springs in Swain County, NC. There is even a double stone for the two at Maple Springs. The date of burial is marked out and then put "July 13" and though it is very hard to make out, the undertaker is listed as "don't know" all of this leads one to believe she is indeed buried at Maple Springs and the death certificate isn't trustworthy for the burial report. (It didn't even know who buried her and the burial date had been marked out sloppily and changed. Then, for cemetery address it gave "---- " as if didn't know or have an answer. Therefore, I have put the memorial at Maple Springs to match the double headstone, I believe family would have known where she was buried and that she'd be beside her husband. If someone has differing information please let me know (Use edit button).

Her death certificate states she was "Mrs. Ida ("Simonds" was marked out) Simons" and widowed. Her husband was Joshua Charles "Charley" Simonds. She was living in Metcalfe, Cherokee County, NC at the time of her death.

Charley preceded her in death from pneumonia by two years and was buried at Maple Springs Cemetery in Swain County according to his death certificate. There is a double stone showing the two are buried side by side there.

Her husband Charley was the son of Stewart and Mary Cloer Simonds.

Ida had one full brother, John Henry Adams, who married her husband's sister, Albia Jane "Jennie" Simmonds. On the 1900 Census, Jennie is widowed and living with them.

Ida also had 3 half sisters: Mahala Hayes Dills, Georgia Ann "Georgeann" Wofford Grant, and Julieete/Julet Wofford Ledford. They are all buried in Swain County as are their mother.

These are her mother's (Jane E. Haislip Wofford Adams) children in order, she is third; Her Mother's maiden name of Haislip is given on her death certificate though misspelled. Her father's name is also listed on the death certificate. Here are her siblings:

(The first three are half siblings, the 3rd is herself, the last is her full sibling)

Mahala "Halie" Hayes Dills (1861-1929)

Georgia Ann Wofford Grant (1865 - 1947)

Julet (Juliette) Wofford Ledford (1866 - 1948)

Ida C Adams Simonds (1872 - 1918)

John Henry Adams (1874 - 1960)

Gravesite Details

I would like someone to double check Moss Cemetery at Marble, Cherokee Co, NC for a stone for her but for sure she has a stone at Maple Springs Cem in Swain Co. Mystery over the discrepancy.
