Son of John Q Adams and Jane E Haislip Wofford Adams(John was Janes's 3rd husband).


He had three half siblings, Mahala Hayes (m. John Dills), Georgia Ann "George Ann" Wofford (last married to married John Patton Grant) and Julet/Juliette Wofford (m. William Isaac Ledford).


He also had a full sister, Ida C Adams (m. Charles/Charley Joshua Simonds)

On April 18, 1894 he married Albia Jane Simonds in Swain County. By J.W. Chatham, J.P.; C. Simonds and M.H. Hays, witnesses.


His sister Ida married Albia's brother, Charles Joshua Simonds. Albia and Charles' parents were Stewart Simonds and Mary Cloer Simonds.


Later, the widowed John Henry Adams married a second time to Minnie McClanahan Herron, the widow of Frank Herron. Minnie was the daughter of William Joseph "Joe" McClanahan (on later records and on grave stone his last name is Smith) and Luvenia/Lavena A Woods McClanahan.
