Joseph G. Abbate Sr., 90, of Route 1, Lexington, died Thursday at King's Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service in New York and an Army veteran of World War I. Survivors: his wife, the former Blanche Branham; two sons, Thomas J. Abbate of Lexington and Joseph G. Abbate Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four stepsons, James Branham of Milton, Ky., Robert Branham of Madison, Donald Branham of Bennington and William Branham; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday, Vail-Holt Funeral Home, with burial in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
