JoAnn McNeil Abdul, 64, of 2008 Winoca Road, departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at her home. She was born in Wilson County to the late Eula Mae Rice and Louis Hines Jr., and shared a deep compassion with her late stepfather, David Taft Rice.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at L. N. Forbes O.F.W.B. Tabernacle, 1800 Lane St., Wilson. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory are two sons, Derrick McNeil of the home and Erick McNeil of Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Sharice McNeil of Wilson, Shaneque McNeil of the home, and Priscilla Lee (Antonio) of Smithfield; four brothers, Algernon McNeil (Bonita) and Louis Hines III, both of Wilson, the Rev. George Moore of Atlanta, and Harry W. Hines (Lillian) of Jackson, N.J.; four sisters, Martha L. Hines, Mary J. Hines and Dianne Williams, all of Bronx, N.Y., and Sonja Bloodworth of Wilson; two uncles, Lester McNeil of Smithfield and Billie Barnes of New York; six grandchildren, Marquavis Hutcherson, Sean David Lee, Ericka Fidelia McNeil, Darrius Devon Lee (Latoya), Aaron A'Jahn McNeil and Nikkita Lee; two great-grandchildren, John Mark Frazier and Alissa Dena Lee; other relatives and many caring friends.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends at other times at the residence where they will assemble one hour before the funeral for the procession to the church. Personal and professional services are entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home, 805 E. Nash St., Wilson, 237-2624.
