Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans. The Rev. Gerald Vap will officiate.
There will be no visitation. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell-Nelson Funeral Home in Oxford.
Mrs. Abbott was born on May 13, 1938, in Hamlet to Louis L. and Mary (Rousey) Keezer. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High and then attended nurse's training through Hastings Community College at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She married Wayne Abbott on May 13, 1955, in Oxford.
She worked as a nurse at the Grand Island Veterans Home from 1968 to 1988. She then worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Wood River until 1992. She began working at Walker Post Manor in Oxford in 1992 and was still employed there. During that time, she had worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arapahoe for about a year.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Wanda (Mrs. Darrel) Paulson of Oxford and Nancy (Mrs. Don) Filken of Juneau, Alaska; two sons, Tim of Gatlinberg, Tenn., and Bill of Oxord; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sarah (Mrs. John) Johnson of Wood River, Mary Rushing of Clinton, Okla., and Nadine (Mrs. Dutch) McIntyre of Omaha; and two brothers, Louis of Downs, Kan., and Bill of Cawker City, Kan.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jess, Jack and Charles; and a sister, Louise Miles.
