Funeral services for Gerald (Benny) Johnson 66 of Everly will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Warner Chapel. Pastor Jerry A. Olson will officiate with burial in the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly
Treven Spears, Darwin Johnson, Randy Newgard, Larry Aakhus, Michael Johnson and Monte Newgard will be the casket bearers
Military services will be conducted by Arthur B. Kirchoff Post No. 288 in Hartley
Johnson, the son of Gerald and Nina (Rohm) Johnson was born September 11, 1915 in Winner, South Dakota. He spent his childhood in that community and received his early education in the country schools Johnson graduated from the Winner High School.
Following his schooling, he worked on a farm in northern Minnesota before entering the military in 1942,when he moved to Iowa
Johnson was a resident of Everly, where he was a truck driver
He had been a resident of the St. Luke Lutheran Home since July 1978
He died Thursday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital
Johnson was preceded in death by his parents
Survivors include three brother, Jack of Everly, Kenneth of Pennock, Minnesota and Frank of Spencer and eight sisters, Mrs. Helen Halleland of Fontana, California, Mrs. Maxine Drath and Mrs. Vivian Aakhus of Everly, Ruth Chase of Creston, Lois Berg of Spencer, Ruby Hagerty of Fontana, California, Mrs. Bonnie Newgard of Laurens and Mrs. Merle Hamrick of Spencer
The warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of the service arrangements
