Ruth Chase, 91, of Creston died Friday, April 24, 2015, at Creston Nursing & Rehab in Creston.

Celebration of Life Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. Pastor Jonathan Watt will officiate. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. service time at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Care Initiatives Hospice or Creston Nursing and Rehab Center. Online condolences may be given at www.powersfh.com.

Ruth Arlene Chase was born September 14, 1923 in Winner, S.D. to Nina Ima (Rohm) Johnson and Gerald Sumner Johnson. She was educated in country schools in Ada, Minnesota and Winner, South Dakota.

On May 29, 1942, Ruth married Leonard Charles Chase in Ada, Minn. They lived in Minnesota, South Dakota and Washington. Ruth worked in the defense plant in Washington for Boeing. Returning to Iowa, Ruth and Leonard lived in Spirit Lake, Cedar Rapids and Creston. Ruth worked at the Colonial Bakery in Cedar Rapids and Ruth and Leonard owned and operated Culligan Water in Creston for 27 years, retiring in 1991. Ruth was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Ruth loved annual family reunions in Spencer, Iowa, playing Bingo and Yahtzee, the Trinity Lutheran Church, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard in 1969, daughter, Connie Hanson, seven sisters, and four brothers.
