Woodward – The funeral for Allen A. Aaron, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at First Christian Church with the Rev. George Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery with arrangements by Billings Funeral Home.
Aaron died Friday, Feb. 19, 1993, in Midwest City.
He was born July 26, 1912, in a half-dugout southwest of Mutual to Charles Gallagher and Eudora Emmaline Allen Aaron. He graduated from Mutual School in 1932 and taught school at Fairview Rural School in 1932. He married Anna Elizabeth Hartle on June 30, 1934 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. They later moved to Mutual where he taught at Hackberry. During World War II, he worked for Boeing Aircraft from 1943-1945. After the war, he moved to Tangier where he became superintendent of schools. He also served as school superintendent in Buffalo and, after earning a master's degree in school administration from Phillips University, was school superintendent in Magnum, Hominy, Fairview and Marlow. He moved to Woodward and was a grade school principal until he retired in 1974.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association and American Association of School Administrators. He also belonged to the Kiwanis, Jolly Timers, Woodward County Retired Teachers and was a past member of the Rotary and Lions Club. He was the author of three books, and was listed in Who's Who in the South and Who's Who in American Education.
He is survived by his wife Anna; a daughter, Allene Ann Lisle of Oklahoma City; two sons, Fred Charles Aaron of Choctaw and Dr. Frank Stephen Aaron of Woodward; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
